PROJECT ARCHITECT

The Project Architect is responsible for designing and documenting luxury single-family home projects from beginning stages through permit submittal. Day to day, this role will create home plans and designs then develop full documentation packages and work with local jurisdictions on permitting. The Project Architect will partner with the Architecture team to help create high quality homes, contribute to our design and technical excellence, and participate in exciting initiatives we’re bringing to MN!

CORE FUNCTIONS

Co-own Project Progress and Success with Team Partners

  • Work in close collaboration with project managers and other MN Studio staff to meet project schedule and performance requirements

  • Pro-actively identify and resolve key issues and tasks

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with team members and organizational stakeholders to meet project and business goals

Provide Technical and Design Excellence for Assigned Projects

  • Provide high-quality design ideas for the creation of new homes

  • Lead and perform the creation of BIM models and permit submittal documentation for concurrent single-family residential projects in the MN Studio workflow

  • Effectively resolve technical and design challenges and conflicts

  • Identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement in design and technical deliverables

Provide Conformance to Technical and Design Standards

  • Stay informed and up to date on all standards and best practices in residential design, documentation, technical requirements, and construction

  • Ensure adherence to documentation quality and completeness standards

  • Complete design and submittal documentation in compliance with all applicable codes and standards

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Technical expertise in single-family wood-frame residential architecture

  • Knowledge of building and energy codes, standards, building construction, and building structures

  • Ability to solve problems effectively and pro-actively using creative application of technical expertise and design judgment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to effectively multitask and juggle simultaneous demands while remaining flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work independently with little direction or oversight

  • Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Collaborate Pro/BIM 360, and Bluebeam Revu

  • Ability to make reasonable, rational, quick decisions while under pressure and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays

  • Ability to adopt MN processes and standards

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Professional degree in Architecture or equivalent

  • Professional Registered Architect (RA) preferred

  • 3+ years’ post-graduate experience in a technical architecture role producing design deliverable documentation for permit submittal required

  • 2+ years’ experience with wood-frame residential architecture preferred

  • Experience with construction administration or general contracting in a technical architectural capacity considered

HOURS & COMPENSATION

This is a full-time position paying a base salary range of $90,000 - $135,000 per year. This range represents the anticipated high and low ends of salary levels for this position, with individual placement within this range dependent on factors including but not limited to: experience, knowledge, skills, and performance.
